The Stockton Blues were formed as a company of state militia mustered in 1857 and mustered out in Sept. 1861.  Source: The California State Military Museum website.  Osprey, Men at Arms Series No. 207, American Civil War Armies 5 Volunteer Militia, indicates that many of the Stockton Blues later joined their commander in the 3rd California Infantry Regiment in Utah during the Civil War, see Plate H3.
